Printed in its first year of publication, 1924, this USGS 7.5-minute topographic sheet is an antique in fair condition, having been handled considerably with foldlines and edge tears stabilized on the back with archival tape. It takes in a stretch of the San Joaquin Valley in Fresno County roughly 23 miles west of Fresno, with the community of Tranquillity within the quad boundaries. Based on a 1922 field survey credited to geographer C.A. Stonesifer, the sheet records the valley before the modern road system and current agricultural footprint took hold, showing historic levees, canals, placenames, and the ranches, schools, rail lines, and structures known at the time. It is printed on thick stock, and the reverse carries printed reference material about reading the map.
