This USGS 7.5-minute topographic sheet is a 1932 edition printed in 1939, an early vintage of the detailed series in good condition, moderately handled with foldlines and printed on thick stock. It takes in the area southeast of Bakersfield through Lamont, with the quad boundaries also including Weedpatch, all within Kern County at the southern end of the San Joaquin Valley. Drawn from a 1929 field survey by geographer S.N. Stoner, it records the rail lines, canals, and scattered schools of this farm country before the suburban growth and modern highways that followed, and comes from the vintage map collection of Richard Dahlke of Santa Barbara. A library stamp sits in the bottom collar, and the reverse carries printed reference material from the era.
