First published in 1932, this USGS 7.5-minute topographic sheet was printed in 1941 and remains in good condition, with foldlines and moderate handling on thick stock. The quad sits in the vicinity of Bakersfield in Kern County, taking in the area from the edge of the city southwest toward the Taft Highway, based on a 1929 field survey credited to geographer A.B. Searle. An early vintage of the detailed 7.5-minute series, it shows the rail lines, ranches, and schools of the landscape before suburban expansion and the modern highway system took hold. The reverse carries printed reference material, and the sheet comes from the vintage map collection of Richard Dahlke of Santa Barbara, California, with a library stamp in the bottom collar.
