Printed in its year of first publication, 1943, this Army Corps of Engineers topographic sheet is an early-1940s edition in very good condition, drawn from a 1941 and 1942 aerial and field survey. It takes in the Carrizo Plain country along the Kern and San Luis Obispo county line, about 50 miles west of Bakersfield, at a scale of 1:62,500. Never folded and printed on thick stock, the sheet shows only light handling and slight age toning, making it a clean survival of a wartime-era mapping of this open stretch of interior California.
