Printed in its first year of publication, 1929, this USGS 7.5-minute topographic sheet of the Sausalito School quad is in very good condition, on thick stock and never folded. It takes in a stretch of California’s San Joaquin Valley in Tulare County, the flat farm country between Porterville and Delano, drawn from a 1926 field survey credited to geographer A.B. Searle. At a time when the valley was still largely agricultural, the map records every known structure and schoolhouse standing when the survey was made, down to a tight five-foot contour interval across gentle terrain. The sheet shows moderate handling and two hole punches in the top collar, with no wear or markings across the map area itself, and the reverse carries printed USGS reference material from 1929.
