Printed in 1945, its first year of publication, this Army Corps of Engineers topographic sheet of the Santiago Creek quad is in very good condition, lightly handled and never folded on thick stock. Drawn from a 1942 and 1943 field survey, it takes in the San Emigdio Mountains and part of the Los Padres National Forest along the Kern and Ventura county line, with a corner of the Bitter Creek National Wildlife Refuge within the quad boundaries. The rugged San Emigdio country the map depicts sits at the edge of the southern Sierra transition, high terrain that gives the sheet its 50-foot contours. The map area shows no wear, no markings, and no blemishes, with only very minor storage wear and a small inventory notation in the collar.
