This USGS 7.5-minute topographic sheet is a 1952 edition with 1972 revisions, printed in 1974, and its condition is excellent – never folded, smooth and flat, with a flawless map area. Set along the northwest Washington coast in Whatcom County, the quad takes in Lummi Bay itself along with Ferndale and Birch Bay, and includes part of the Lummi Indian Reservation within its boundaries. The 1972 revisions layer early-1970s updates over the postwar coastal landscape, capturing the tideflats and low relief of this stretch of shoreline near the Canadian border. A library stamp sits in the top collar, and having never been folded, the sheet would take well to framing.

This vintage sheet is a 1952 edition of the Lummi Bay Washington USGS topographic map revised in 1972 using aerial photography. It is an original 52-year-old 1974 United States Geological Survey print in excellent condition.

This map is from the 7.5-minute series, the most detailed series that is widely available from the USGS. The 1952 Lummi Bay map is a valuable historical record for the area. It contains some placenames and features that have been dropped from more recent maps.

The map was photorevised in 1972. Any features that changed or were added between the original edition year of 1952 and the photorevision year of 1972 are overlayed in purple. The purple overlay provides an excellent view of the fast-growing and changing areas within the quad boundary.
