This 7.5-minute USGS/Army Corps of Engineers topographic sheet is a 1953 edition, printed in 1959, and is in very good condition: lightly handled, never folded, with a flawless map area and just a light crease in the upper right corner. Covering ground in Bexar County east of San Antonio, the quad area takes in Kirby, China Grove, and St. Hedwig, with Converse and Schertz reaching toward its northern edge. Drawn from a 1952 and 1953 aerial and field survey, it records the area before its suburban buildout – when it was largely woods and fields crossed by overland routes and rail lines, with all known structures marked. Printed on thick stock, it has been kept in strong shape.
