A joint USGS and Army Corps of Engineers 7.5-minute topographic map, this Van Raub sheet is a 1953 edition printed in 1959, and it is in good condition on thick stock: lightly handled, never folded, with a flawless map area and only some storage wear at the lower right collar edge. Northwest of San Antonio, the quad area falls across Bexar, Comal, and Kendall counties and takes in the Texas Hill Country communities that later grew into Fair Oaks Ranch, Scenic Oaks, and Grey Forest. Based on a 1952 and 1953 aerial and field survey, it records this country before San Antonio’s suburbs pushed northwest and the modern freeway system arrived, when the area was still mostly woods and fields.
