The quad sits in Bell and Coryell counties northwest of Austin, taking in Killeen and part of the Fort Hood military reservation, with Post Oak Mountain giving the sheet its name. The Corps involvement reflects the postwar buildup around Fort Hood, and the clean, unfolded sheet with its printed 1953 date would frame well for anyone with a connection to Killeen or the post.
