Soda Springs Idaho Cache NF Grace USGS Topo Map 1951 Vintage
$42
This USGS 15-minute topographic sheet is a 1949 edition, printed in 1951 on thick stock, and is in very good condition with only light handling and quarter-strength midsheet foldlines from having been previously folded. Based on aerial and field surveys from 1945 through 1948, it takes in a stretch of southeastern Idaho about 45 miles from Pocatello, with the towns of Soda Springs and Grace and the smaller communities of Niter and Conda falling within the quad boundaries, along with part of Cache National Forest. The map area itself shows no wear, markings, or blemishes, and the 40-foot contours trace the volcanic and mountainous country around the upper Bear River that gives this part of Caribou and Bear Lake counties its character.

FEATURES SHOWN ON THE MAP
The Soda Springs 15-minute map shows cities and towns, roads, railroads, utilities and energy infrastructure, rivers, creeks, elevation contour lines, public land survey lines, county, state, and other administrative boundaries as they existed at the time of the survey in 1945 through 1948. All known structures (houses, businesses, churches, schools, barns, cabins, etc) are also shown.
A VALUABLE HISTORICAL RECORD
Maps from the 15-minute series for the continental United States are no longer produced or printed by the USGS and original prints are becoming increasingly difficult to find. They are a valuable historical record for an area, as they contain many placenames and features that have been dropped from more recent maps.
