This USGS 7.5-minute topographic sheet is a 1965 edition, printed in 1967, and is in very good condition – lightly handled, never folded, with a flawless map area on thick stock. Covering roughly a 7-by-9-mile area within Shelby County, the quad takes in the southeastern side of Memphis and the community of Capleville near the Mississippi state line. Built from a 1963 and 1965 aerial and field survey, the map records the southeast reaches of the city as they stood in the mid-1960s, and the sheet carries library stamps in the bottom right collar from its earlier institutional life.

This map is from the 7.5-minute series, the most detailed series that is widely available from the USGS. The 1965 Southeast Memphis map is a valuable historical record for the area. It contains some placenames and features that have been dropped from more recent maps.
