This USGS 15-minute topographic map is a 1929 edition, printed in 1961 on thick stock, and the sheet is in very good condition, lightly handled and never folded. Covering ground about 20 miles southeast of Erie where Pennsylvania meets New York, the quad area takes in Union City, Waterford, and Canadohta Lake in Crawford and Erie counties, along with part of the Erie National Wildlife Refuge. The map area shows no wear, markings, or blemishes, and a library stamp in the right collar hints at the sheet’s earlier institutional life. Drawn from a 1929 field survey under geographer C.W. Goodlove, it reflects the rolling farm and woodland country of northwestern Pennsylvania as it was mapped in that era.
