Chiricahua Peak Arizona Coronado NF USGS Topo Map 1962
$48
This USGS 15-minute topographic sheet is a 1958 edition printed in 1962, in excellent condition: never folded, smooth and flat, with a flawless map area and only hole punches along the left collar. Drawn from a 1956 and 1958 aerial and field survey, it takes in the Chiricahua Mountains of Cochise County in far southeastern Arizona, including portions of the Coronado National Forest and the Chiricahua National Monument Wilderness, with Chiricahua Peak defining the high country the quad is named for. The rugged sky-island terrain here rises steeply from the surrounding desert, and the 80-foot contour interval traces the steep canyons and rock formations that give this range its character. Printed on thick stock, and being never folded and flat, it is a good candidate for framing.

FEATURES SHOWN ON THE MAP
The Chiricahua Peak 15-minute map shows cities and towns, roads, railroads, utilities and energy infrastructure, rivers, creeks, elevation contour lines, public land survey lines, county, state, and other administrative boundaries as they existed at the time of the survey in 1956 and 1958. All known structures (houses, businesses, churches, schools, barns, cabins, etc) are also shown.
A VALUABLE HISTORICAL RECORD
Maps from the 15-minute series for the continental United States are no longer produced or printed by the USGS and original prints are becoming increasingly difficult to find. They are a valuable historical record for an area, as they contain many placenames and features that have been dropped from more recent maps.
