Englebrecht Ranch California Cantua Creek USGS Topo Map 1947

$17

This 7.5-minute USGS topographic sheet is a first-year 1947 edition, printed in 1947 with 1946 revisions, and is in fair condition, having been handled considerably with midsheet horizontal and vertical foldlines. Drawn from a 1921 field survey, it takes in a portion of California’s San Joaquin Valley southwest of Fresno, with the community of Cantua Creek and Cantua Creek itself falling within the quad boundaries. Based on that earlier survey, it captures the valley floor before the modern road system and current agricultural footprint took shape, showing historic levees, drainage alignments, placenames, and the ranches and structures of the era. The reverse carries a printed map summary and symbol legend, and the map area shows only minor wear with pencilled parcel notations in the northeast corner.

It also provides instructions on how to read contour lines and a description of how they are used to depict the terrain. At the bottom of the page is a legend showing all of the symbols used to represent the cultural, relief, and water features found on the map.
