A 1947 edition printed in 1953, this Army Corps of Engineers topographic sheet is in very good condition, kept flat and never folded on thick stock. The quad sits in the vicinity of Killeen in Bell and Coryell counties, about 55 miles north of Austin, and takes in part of Fort Hood along with the ground around Killeen and Copperas Cove. Surveyed by aerial and field methods in 1947, it records the area before its suburban buildout, when the country was mostly woods and fields, showing the overland routes, rail lines, and structures of that moment. The map area is flawless, with only a light crease across the top right collar corner.
