This USGS 15-minute topographic map is a 1955 edition printed in 1963, a lightly handled sheet in good condition with a single midsheet horizontal foldline. Drawn from a 1952 and 1955 aerial and field survey, it takes in country roughly 20 miles north of Beaumont in Hardin and Jasper counties, including Silsbee, Lumberton, and Evadale within the quad boundaries. A transect line drawn in pencil across the southern part of the map area hints at earlier fieldwork, and the tight 5-foot contour interval reflects the low, flat terrain of the East Texas Piney Woods this sheet depicts.

A reddish tint may be used on this sheet to indicate urban areas where only landmark buildings will be shown. Outside of those areas, all known structures (houses, businesses churches, schools, barns, cabins, etc) are shown.
