Nankoweap Arizona Grand Canyon USGS Topo Map 1970 Vintage

$48

This USGS 15-minute topographic map is a 1954 edition printed in 1970, in excellent condition on thick stock, very lightly handled and never folded so it lies smooth and flat. Drawn at 1:62,500 with an 80-foot contour interval, the quad sits within Grand Canyon National Park about 85 miles north of Flagstaff in Coconino County, taking in a stretch of the Grand Canyon and Marble Canyon along with parts of the Kaibab National Forest and the Saddle Mountain Wilderness. The 80-foot contours trace the sheer relief of this canyon country, where the Colorado River drops through some of the most rugged terrain in the park, and the flawless map area makes the detail easy to read.

FEATURES SHOWN ON THE MAP
The Nankoweap 15-minute map shows cities and towns, roads, railroads, utilities and energy infrastructure, rivers, creeks, elevation contour lines, public land survey lines, county, state, and other administrative boundaries as they existed at the time of the survey in 1951 and 1954. All known structures (houses, businesses, churches, schools, barns, cabins, etc) are also shown.

A VALUABLE HISTORICAL RECORD
Maps from the 15-minute series for the continental United States are no longer produced or printed by the USGS and original prints are becoming increasingly difficult to find. They are a valuable historical record for an area, as they contain many placenames and features that have been dropped from more recent maps.
