S P Mountain Arizona USGS 15-Min Topo Map 1975 Vintage

$44

This USGS 15-minute topographic map is a 1962 edition printed in 1975, in excellent condition on thick stock, and the sheet has been kept flat and never folded with a flawless map area and a clean, unmarked collar. Covering an area about 30 miles north of Flagstaff in Coconino County, the quad takes in country within the Kaibab and Coconino National Forests, part of the Navajo Indian Reservation, and a portion of Wupatki National Monument. S P Mountain itself gives the quad its name, one of the many volcanic cones scattered across the high ground of the San Francisco volcanic field, and the map comes from the vintage collection of Art Christiansen of Tempe, Arizona.

FEATURES SHOWN ON THE MAP
The S P Mountain 15-minute map shows cities and towns, roads, railroads, utilities and energy infrastructure, rivers, creeks, elevation contour lines, public land survey lines, county, state, and other administrative boundaries as they existed at the time of the survey in 1958 and 1962. All known structures (houses, businesses, churches, schools, barns, cabins, etc) are also shown.

A VALUABLE HISTORICAL RECORD
Maps from the 15-minute series for the continental United States are no longer produced or printed by the USGS and original prints are becoming increasingly difficult to find. They are a valuable historical record for an area, as they contain many placenames and features that have been dropped from more recent maps.
