This USGS 15-minute topographic map is a 1939 edition printed in 1964, in good condition on thick stock, moderately handled and never folded. Spanning parts of Centre and Clearfield counties about 15 miles west of State College, the quad area takes in Philipsburg and Chester Hill along with Port Matilda, Stormstown, North Philipsburg, and Sandy Ridge. Surveyed before the modern interstate system reshaped the region, the map marks every house known at the time of the field survey, giving a close look at how these small central Pennsylvania communities were laid out. The sheet carries a smudge in the lower left collar and a library stamp in the center right collar, with edge protectors applied and no edge tears.
