This USGS 15-minute topographic map is a 1952 edition printed in 1964, in very good condition on thick stock, lightly handled and never folded. Based on a 1951 and 1952 aerial and field survey, it takes in Carlisle about 15 miles southwest of Harrisburg, with Mechanicsburg, Boiling Springs, Mount Holly Springs, and Dillsburg falling within the quad boundaries across Cumberland, Adams, and York counties. It captures the region as it was before the modern highway system, mapping the overland travel routes, rail lines, and structures that carried the country from Carlisle south toward York Springs. The collar carries edge protectors and a library stamp in the center right, while the map area shows no wear or markings, and the flat sheet is a fair candidate for framing.
