Powell Plateau Arizona USGS 15-Min Topo Map 1964 Vintage
$44
This USGS 15-minute topographic map is a 1962 edition printed in 1964, in very good condition on thick stock, lightly handled and never folded. Drawn from a field survey of 1954 through 1962, it takes in the Powell Plateau country within Grand Canyon National Park, about 25 miles northwest of Grand Canyon Village in Coconino County, with portions of Kaibab National Forest, the Havasupai Indian Reservation, and the Kanab Creek Wilderness falling inside the quad. The 80-foot contour interval traces some of the most rugged terrain on the North Rim, where the plateau stands isolated above the inner canyon. The flawless map area and heavy paper make it a strong candidate for framing, and it comes from the vintage map collection of Art Christiansen of Tempe, Arizona.

A VALUABLE HISTORICAL RECORD
Maps from the 15-minute series for the continental United States are no longer produced or printed by the USGS and original prints are becoming increasingly difficult to find. They are a valuable historical record for an area, as they contain many placenames and features that have been dropped from more recent maps.
