A 1955 edition printed in 1964, this joint USGS/Army Corps of Engineers topographic sheet is in very good condition, lightly handled and never folded, on thick stock. Drawn at 1:62,500 with 20-foot contours, the quad takes in parts of Dauphin, Lebanon, Northumberland, and Schuylkill counties, with Lykens, Williamstown, Valley View, and Tower City among the communities within its boundaries, about 20 miles southeast of Sunbury. The country here sits in Pennsylvania’s anthracite coal belt, where towns like Tower City and Williamstown grew up around the mines threading these ridges. The sheet carries a library stamp in the right collar and very minor paperclip residue in the lower right corner, with a flawless map area and edge protectors applied.

The Lykens 15-minute map shows cities and towns, roads, railroads, utilities and energy infrastructure, rivers, creeks, elevation contour lines, public land survey lines, county, state, and other administrative boundaries as they existed at the time of the survey in 1943 and 1955. A reddish tint is used on this sheet to indicate urban areas where only landmark buildings are depicted. Outside of those areas, all known structures (houses, businesses, churches, schools, barns, cabins, etc) are shown.
