Hughesville Pennsylvania Millville Iola USGS Topo Map 1962
$42
This USGS 15-minute topographic map is a 1953 edition printed in 1962, in very good condition on thick stock and never folded. Covering an area roughly 20 miles southeast of Williamsport in north-central Pennsylvania, the quad takes in Hughesville and Millville along with the smaller communities of Washingtonville, Buckhorn, Jerseytown, Iola, and Eyers Grove across parts of Lycoming, Columbia, Montour, and Northumberland counties. Drawn from a 1930 and 1931 aerial and field survey and detailed at a 20-foot contour interval, it maps the ridge-and-valley farm country of the region as it stood at mid-century. The sheet has been lightly handled with no wear or markings in the map area; the collar carries a crease in the upper right corner, a library stamp, and edge protectors.

FEATURES SHOWN ON THE MAP
The Hughesville 15-minute map shows cities and towns, roads, railroads, utilities and energy infrastructure, rivers, creeks, elevation contour lines, public land survey lines, county, state, and other administrative boundaries as they existed at the time of the survey in 1930 and 1931. All known structures (houses, businesses, churches, schools, barns, cabins, etc) are also shown.
A VALUABLE HISTORICAL RECORD
Maps from the 15-minute series for the continental United States are no longer produced or printed by the USGS and original prints are becoming increasingly difficult to find. They are a valuable historical record for an area, as they contain many placenames and features that have been dropped from more recent maps.
