Printed in 1927, its year of first publication, this antique 7.5-minute USGS topographic sheet is in good condition, moderately handled and never folded, on thick stock. The quad sits in the San Joaquin Valley just east of Hanford in Kings and Tulare counties, taking in flat farm country at a five-foot contour interval that traces the valley’s subtle relief. Surveyed in 1924 with L.O. Newsome as geographer, the sheet records the valley before the modern road system, laying out historic levees, canals, old placenames, and the ranches, schools, rail lines, and structures known at the time. A map summary on the reverse carries printed reference material from the 1927 mapping program.
