This USGS 7.5-minute topographic map is a 1947 edition printed in 1962, in very good condition on thick stock, lightly handled and never folded. Covering about 33 miles northwest of Allentown, the quad area takes in the city of Hazleton along with West Hazleton, McAdoo, Beaver Meadows, and Tresckow, spanning parts of Carbon, Luzerne, and Schuylkill counties. This is the heart of Pennsylvania’s anthracite coal region, and the communities of Jeddo and Drifton within the quad grew directly out of that mining history. The map area is flawless, and the collar shows no wear or markings apart from hole punches in the left collar.
