This USGS 7.5-minute topographic sheet is a 1946 edition, printed in 1959, and is in very good condition, lightly handled and never folded on thick stock. Drawn at 1:24,000 with a 10-foot contour interval, it takes in the Wyoming Valley around Wilkes-Barre and Kingston, with Forty Fort, Edwardsville, Swoyersville, Larksville, Luzerne, and Back Mountain within the quad boundaries. This was the heart of the northern anthracite coal region, and the map records the closely built river towns of the valley as they stood in the postwar years. The map area is flawless and the collar shows no wear, tears, or markings aside from hole punches in the left collar.
