This USGS 7.5-minute topographic map is a first-year 1950 print, published and printed the same year, and is in good condition, lightly handled with foldlines and minor age toning along some of them. It covers the eastern half of Santa Catalina Island off the Southern California coast, taking in the town of Avalon and the waters of the San Pedro Channel that separate the island from the mainland near Los Angeles. Drawn from a 1943 aerial and field survey, it captures the island’s steep interior terrain and harbor town at mid-century, and the sheet is printed on thick stock, with printed reference material on the reverse.
