Printed in its year of first publication, 1950, this USGS 7.5-minute topographic sheet is in good condition, lightly handled with foldlines and some discoloration along them, on thick stock. It takes in the southern end of Santa Catalina Island off the Southern California coast, roughly 53 miles south of Los Angeles, with Ben Weston Beach and Silver Canyon among the features within the quad. Drawn from a 1943 aerial and field survey, it captures the island’s rugged interior canyons and shoreline at a 50-foot contour interval, and the reverse carries printed reference material about the mapping program.
