This USGS 7.5-minute topographic map is a 1968 edition with 1975 revisions, printed in 1978, and the sheet is in very good condition with only light handling and a single horizontal foldline across the middle. The quad straddles the Riverside–San Diego county line about 37 miles south of Riverside, taking in Temecula and Fallbrook along with the community of Rainbow. Printed with photorevisions through 1975, it records the area as it stood in the mid-1970s, before much of the growth that later reshaped the Temecula Valley.

A VALUABLE HISTORICAL RECORD
This map is from the 7.5-minute series, the most detailed series that is widely available from the USGS. The 1968 Temecula map is a valuable historical record for the area. It contains some placenames and features that have been dropped from more recent maps.

The map was photorevised in 1975. Any features that changed or were added between the original edition year of 1968 and the photorevision year of 1975 are overlayed in purple. The purple overlay provides an excellent view of the fast-growing and changing areas within the quad boundary.
