This 15-minute USGS / Army Corps of Engineers topographic sheet is a 1952 edition, printed in 1959, and the print is in very good condition: lightly handled, never folded, with a flawless map area and edge protectors applied. Drawn from a 1951 and 1952 aerial and field survey, the quad takes in south-central Pennsylvania around Newville and Shippensburg, with Plainfield and Walnut Bottom within its boundaries across parts of Cumberland, Franklin, Adams, and Perry counties. Surveyed before the modern interstate system reached the region, it marks all houses known at the time of survey, giving a house-by-house record of the countryside as it stood at mid-century. Printed on thick stock, and having never been folded, the sheet lies flat.
